The Allman Brothers Band Can't Lose What You Never Had

Beschreibung und Texte
Track 4 from their fifth studio album released in 1975. "Win, Lose or Draw" was a disappointment critically and commercially. Since the huge success of "Brothers and Sisters", excessive drug use was rampant among the band and crew. An internal power struggle had developed between Allman and Betts over the band's direction, and it threatened to end things. Both members were already working on side projects of their own. This was the last album for Lamar Williams & Chuck Leavell. The band would dissolve the next year, and reunite in 1979. Copyright Capricorn Records 1975. Written by Gregg Allman and produced by Johnny Sandlin & The Allman Brothers Band. RIP Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Tom Dowd, Butch Trucks & the man, Gregory Lenoire Allman, 1947 - 2017. Featuring:

Gregg Allman - Lead vocals, Hammond organ, clavinet & acoustic guitar
Richard Betts - Lead vocals, slide, lead & acoustic guitars
Lamar Williams - Bass
Chuck Leavell - Piano, electric piano, Moog synthesizer, clavinet & background vocals
Jai Johanny Johanson - Drums & percussion
Butch Trucks - Drums, tympani, congas & percussion
Special Guests:
Johnny Sandlin - Acoustic guitar, drums & percussion
Bill Stewart - Drums

Endlessly facing the cold concrete floor
Four cold grey walls and no doors
I barely remember the last forty days
Just what they holdin' me for
So far away, they tell me
"Boy, You're here to stay, win, lose or draw"

Letters unanswered and visits so few
Cold desperation I know
Guess I'd give most anything
Oh Lord, if they'll just let me go
I'm so far away
Day after lonely, lonely day
Win, Lose or Draw

Ma, she’s dead and gone
Pa just don't seem to find the time
It makes me so sad that he's forsaken me
When he's all I had left I call mine
So far away
Day after lonely, lonely day
Win, lose or draw

There's two men in one room for ten long years
Still strangers that talk away the time
'Cause each time I think of your soft hand in mine
I lay here and die one more time
And I'm far away
Day after lonely, lonely day
Win, Lose or Draw
Yes I’m far away
Ain’t no chancin’ another day
I’m just too far away
