As a freelance guitarist, Al stays busy working with various groups in Texas.. Currently Al is working in the West Texas area. Some of Al's influences are Marcos Mendoza (childhood friend), Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Brent Mason, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Pete Anderson, Babyface, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bruce Conte and most of our current smooth jazz guitarist...

Al's second studio solo CD "Catchin' a Vibe" (Shade Records, released Summer 2016), oozes some of the funkiest grooves around! "Catchin' a Vibe" is flowing with great smooth guitar playing and continues Al's love of classic songs with great vocals and harmonies.
"This is one of the most uplifting new releases I’ve heard all year! Texas guitarist Al Gomez blends in all kinds of feel good energy into his Smooth Jazz including some R&B influences, neo soul, funk and killer vocal harmonies! Al’s CASA GROOVE es mi Casa Groove filled with hooky original compositions that sound like world-class hits including his latest singles, the infectious, soulful, vocal-infused "Devotion".
