In this Emmy® Award WINNING musical story/documentary, Lisa's original piano composition and the video created by Enchanted Road Productions wordlessly tells the powerful story about a small Japanese coastal village, where a tremendous tsunami destroyed much of Japan in 2011. A “Torii” is a traditional Japanese “gate” designed to impede the flow of evil spirits. This particular Torii was erected to insure the safe voyages of local fishermen. The massive tsunami of 2011 lifted the Torii from its moorings and cast the sacred wooden beams adrift into the vast Pacific. The remains of the Torii washed up on the coast of Oregon. They were identified there and carefully shipped back to their rightful place at the Itsukushima shrine in Hachinohe, Japan. Despite the devastation of the tsunami, this epic journey of the Torii Gates has resulted in a profound connection between two cultures. Many thanks to the Omomuki Foundation and to the Portland Japanese Gardens for ensuring these sacred gates found their way home.
