The station began transmitting on 151.675 MHz on Sunday April 6th, 1997 from its studio in Sydney, serving the Greek community of Sydney. On Friday July 25 th 1997 the Greek speaking people of Newcastle, the second largest city of New South Wales awoke to the melodies of Radio Symban, the first and only 24 hour Greek radio broadcast in the city’s history. On Thursday December 13th 1999, Radio Symban also became the first Greek Radio Station from Australia to be broadcasting live to the world via the internet. On the 17th May 2008, Symban received the title of WORLD RADIO because with its new frequency 2.369 KHz, it managed to be heard not only all over Australia, but through the entire world. On 14th May 2011, the 1674 AM frequency was also added, to make it the biggest Greek radio station in New South Wales and the first to represent Greek-Australians live on the internet, relaying its voice to the entire world.
